Proseware PWG 320

Proseware PWG 320 is a gear oil with viscosity grade ISO VG 320 and synthetic PAO base oil.¹ It was the approved gear oil for the LT-32 gearbox before the conversion to Proseware PWG 220.¹²³ Current procedures state that PWG 320 must not be used for topping up and that residual PWG 320 must remain below 5% after flushing.⁴⁵⁶

Facts

• For affected turbines, the gear oil changes from Proseware PWG 320 to Proseware PWG 220.⁷
• PWG 320 must be drained at an oil temperature between 40 and 60 °C.⁷
• After flushing, residual PWG 320 must not exceed 5 % of total oil volume.⁷
• The approved gear oil is Proseware PWG 320 with viscosity grade ISO VG 320 and synthetic PAO base oil.¹
• The change replaces Proseware PWG 320 (ISO VG 320) with Proseware PWG 220 (ISO VG 220) in the gearboxes of all 12 turbines, as required by SB-LWS-2025-07 Rev. A.²
• For the oil-mixing hazard, the identified risk is residual PWG 320 above 5 %, controlled by a 60 L flush, labelling the filler, and removing PWG 320 drums from the shelf.⁸
• A converted gearbox must never be topped up with PWG 320, and residual PWG 320 must remain below 5 % of oil volume.⁴
• Top-up is only permitted with PWG 220 through the 10 micron filter cart, and PWG 320 must not be used.⁹
• PWS-320-D208 is listed as Proseware PWG 320 gear oil in a 208 L drum with a do-not-use note tied to MOC-2025-012; the stock entry shows 1 drum on hand, minimum 0, reorder quantity 0, and 0 on order.¹⁰
• The export records a completed high-priority modification campaign for gearbox oil conversion from PWG 320 to PWG 220 with a 60 L flush for WTG-01 through WTG-12 under reference MOC-2025-012; each row lists part PWS-220-D208 with quantity 3.^{111213141516171819202122}
• Since SB-LWS-2025-07, the gearboxes use Proseware PWG 220 with ISO VG 220 instead of PWG 320.³
• The minimum oil temperature for start-up is +5 °C, compared with +10 °C when using PWG 320.³
• For the conversion, the oil is to be changed from Proseware PWG 320 to Proseware PWG 220 at the next scheduled oil change, and no later than 31 December 2025.²³
• Residual PWG 320 above 5 % after flushing is not permitted.⁵
• After switching from PWG 320 to PWG 220, oil filter element FGT-P-11872 is to be changed a second time after 500 operating hours because loosened deposits collect in the filter.²⁴
• With PWG 220, the minimum oil temperature for start-up is plus five degrees; with the old PWG 320, it was plus ten.²⁵
• If WTG-09 still has PWG 320 in January, its start temperature remains plus ten until conversion is complete; the parameter is changed only with the new oil.²⁶
• After conversion, a gearbox must never be topped up with PWG 320; old PWG 320 drums are marked do not use.⁶
• One drum of PWG 320 remained in the store and was to stay there until the waste carrier collected it; it was not to be used.²⁷²⁸
• Superseded: The specified new oil is Proseware PWG 320 (ISO VG 320), with 410 L per turbine supplied as 2 drums PWS-320-D208.²⁹
• Superseded: 410 L of Proseware PWG 320 is filled through a 10 micron filter cart.³⁰
• Superseded: Revision A is the first issue and is associated with PWG 320.³¹

Timeline

• 2025-07: Since SB-LWS-2025-07, the gearboxes use Proseware PWG 220 with ISO VG 220 instead of PWG 320.³
• 2025-07: The change replaces Proseware PWG 320 (ISO VG 320) with Proseware PWG 220 (ISO VG 220) in the gearboxes of all 12 turbines, as required by SB-LWS-2025-07 Rev. A.²
• 2025-12-31: For the conversion, the oil is to be changed from Proseware PWG 320 to Proseware PWG 220 at the next scheduled oil change, and no later than 31 December 2025.²³
