Proseware PWG 220 is an ISO VG 220 gearbox oil used in the gearboxes of Quellmoor Ridge wind turbines.123 It replaced Proseware PWG 320 in the turbine gearboxes under SB-LWS-2025-07 and MOC-2025-012.41567891011121314151617 The oil-change procedure uses 60 L for flushing and 410 L for filling, and top-up is with PWG 220 only.18192021223
Facts
- For affected turbines, the gear oil changes from Proseware PWG 320 to Proseware PWG 220.4
- The gearbox must be flushed with 60 L of PWG 220, the electric oil pump run for 30 minutes, and the flush oil then drained.4
- The gearbox must be filled with 410 L of PWG 220 through a filter cart with a 10 micron element.4
- The gearbox filler must be labelled 'PWG 220' using the supplied label kit.4
- Per turbine, parts and labour include 470 L of Proseware PWG 220, one FGT-P-11872 oil filter element, one PWG 220 label kit, and labour by 2 technicians for about 6 hours.23
- The change replaces Proseware PWG 320 (ISO VG 320) with Proseware PWG 220 (ISO VG 220) in the gearboxes of all 12 turbines, as required by SB-LWS-2025-07 Rev. A.1
- Action 2 is to order 36 drums of PWG 220 and set the minimum stock of PWS-220-D208 to 8 drums, owned by Tomasz Lebrecht and due 2025-08-15.24
- The estimated cost is EUR 58,600 for 36 drums of PWG 220, 12 filter elements, labour, and waste-oil disposal, within the 2025 maintenance budget.25
- The lubricant is Proseware PWG 220, ISO VG 220, in service since 2025-10-15.2
- The report states that viscosity and water content are normal for PWG 220.2
- The trend table shows the 2026-06-10 sample as PWG 220 oil with Fe 64 ppm, PQ index 112, viscosity at 40 °C of 229, and ALERT status.26
- Each turbine requires 470 L of Proseware PWG 220, consisting of 60 L for flushing and 410 L for filling, supplied as 3 drums of PWS-220-D208.18
- Required tools include a torque wrench with a 20 to 300 Nm range, oil sample bottles, and a PWG 220 label kit.27
- The flush step uses 60 L of PWG 220, runs the electric oil pump for 30 minutes, and then drains the flush oil into waste containers.19
- The gearbox is filled with 410 L of Proseware PWG 220 through a 10 micron filter cart.20
- After 20 minutes of standstill, the oil level is checked at the sight glass according to SPL-012 and topped up only with PWG 220.21
- Controller parameter GBX_TMIN_START must be set to 5 °C, and the gearbox filler must be labelled PWG 220.28
- Revision B changed the oil to PWG 220 per MOC-2025-012 and SB-LWS-2025-07, added the flush step, and set a minimum start-up temperature of +5 °C.5
- WTG-09 has gearbox oil conversion to PWG 220 pending and deferred under SB-LWS-2025-07.29
- Gearbox oil change task MP-GBX-03 for PWG 220 is scheduled every 5 years or on condition, references SOP-GBX-010 Rev. B, has a duration field of 6 h, and notes that the next planned changes start from 2030.30
- WTG-07 oil sampling report TR-OA-2026-0614 recorded PWG 220 oil, Fe of 64 ppm, PQ index of 112, condition ALERT, and next sample due 2026-07-10 with resampling within 30 days.31
- Issue 1 was issued on 2025-12-15 and updated the oil sampling schedule for PWG 220 under MOC-2025-012 action 5.32
- Top-up is only permitted with PWG 220 through the 10 micron filter cart, and PWG 320 must not be used.22
- The export records a completed high-priority modification campaign for gearbox oil conversion from PWG 320 to PWG 220 with a 60 L flush for WTG-01 through WTG-12 under reference MOC-2025-012; each row lists part PWS-220-D208 with quantity 3.67891011121314151617
- Since SB-LWS-2025-07, the gearboxes use Proseware PWG 220 with ISO VG 220 instead of PWG 320.3
- Oils must not be mixed; top-up is with PWG 220 only.3
- The quiz answers state that the HSS drives the generator, A2102 trips at 82 °C, the oil used is Proseware PWG 220, and a rising PQ index means more ferrous wear debris, often from a bearing.33
- For the conversion, the oil is to be changed from Proseware PWG 320 to Proseware PWG 220 at the next scheduled oil change, and no later than 31 December 2025.34
- Each gearbox is to be flushed with 60 L of PWG 220 before the final fill of 410 L.35
- After switching from PWG 320 to PWG 220, oil filter element FGT-P-11872 is to be changed a second time after 500 operating hours because loosened deposits collect in the filter.36
- PWG 220 conversion status was: nine turbines completed, WTG-11 being converted that day, WTG-12 scheduled for the following Wednesday, and WTG-09 planned for the twenty-fourth if the access road remained open.3738
- With PWG 220, the minimum oil temperature for start-up is plus five degrees; with the old PWG 320, it was plus ten.39
